Catarata de La Fortuna

La catarata de La Fortuna cae cerca de 70-75 metros y se encuentra en la base del Cerro Chato, a unos 5,5 km de la localidad de La Fortuna, cerca del Volcán Arenal. Es alimentada por el río Arenal, que viaja a través de la selva tropical en la Sierra Arenal hasta que se sumerge en el acantilado, formando esta cascada.
La caminata hasta la catarata es corta y ardua, a lo largo de una escalera tallada en la ladera. Se anima a los huéspedes a nadar en el arroyo y pequeños rápidos debajo de la catarata, y hay un salvavidas de guardia. Hay baños y duchas en las instalaciones para huéspedes en lo alto del acantilado, junto con un restaurante y una tienda de regalos. Debería tomar 10 minutos bajar y unos 20 para volver al estacionamiento.

The waterfall of La Fortuna falls about 70-75 meters and it is located at the base of Cerro Chato, about 5.5 km from the town of La Fortuna, near the Arenal Volcano. It is fed by the Arenal River, which travels through the rainforest in the Sierra Arenal until it plunges into the cliff, forming this waterfall.
The walk to the waterfall is short and arduous, along a staircase carved into the hillside. Guests are encouraged to swim in the creek and small rapids under the waterfall, and there is a lifeguard on call. There are toilets and showers in the guest facilities high up the cliff, along with a restaurant and gift shop. It should take 10 minutes to get off and about 20 to get back to the parking lot.
It is open from 7:30 am to 4:00 pm.
